Winter warmer on the way
The city has a chance to see a rare warm mid-December day on Monday with the mercury likely to reach 20 degrees Celsius, forecasters said.
According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, the last record of a 20-degree winter day in mid December appeared in 1955, six decades ago.
Skies will be cloudy on Monday with the mercury ranging from 13 to 20 degrees.
However, the cold air will affect the city between Tuesday night and Wednesday with strong winds and a sharp temperature drop.
Starting late Tuesday, this round of powerful cold air will also bring wetness back. The rainy weather will last through Sunday.
The high will drop to 15 degrees on Tuesday and 10 degrees on Wednesday, with the lows dropping to 11 and 8.
Thursday will be the coldest day of the week with the high to be 9 and the low to be 7.
It will get a little bit warmer over the weekend, during which the temperature will fluctuate between 6 and 11.
