Red Cross kicks off holiday charity program once again

An annual project helping needy families ahead of New Year and Spring Festival has been running for 21 years and distributed 254 million yuan (US$36.29 million) to some 430,000 local needy families, said Red Cross Society of China, Shanghai Branch.

This year’s project will provide some 20,000 families facing financial hardship with over 10 million yuan distributed in aid, officials said.

Officials said they will enhance assistance to seniors with dementia. Online and offline charity programs will be organized to collect more funds for such residents.
