Startup contest seeks entries
Zhuhai’s Hengqin New District has teamed up with Macau to launch its second scientific innovation competition for startups.
In an announcement in Shanghai, the Guangdong Province city district said it was targeting key industries such as integrated circuit and chip design, big data and artificial intelligence, biological medicine and medical equipment and new material. Entries would be welcome from home and abroad for total prize money of 300 million yuan (US$42.86 million).
The top prize will be 100 million yuan to support innovation and development, competition organizers said.
Startups can apply through www.hqkcds.cn before 5pm on March 2.
Last year’s first competition attracted 955 projects, 10 of which were winners, some of whom started businesses in Hengqin.
