Agricultural products from northeastern China's Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces will for the first time join the city's annual New Year farm produce fair, which will be held between Friday and Monday, local agriculture and rural affairs authority announced on Tuesday.

This will also be the first time for Jilin Province to bring its Mount Changbai ginseng to the city for promotion.

"In the past year, we had sent teams to different provinces looking for cooperations," said Song Haihong, head of the Shanghai Agricultural Exhibition Center. "We will try to bring more choices for local residents when they are buying agricultural products. And with the current nationwide campaign of rural revitalization, other provinces are also willing to have their farm products show up on tables in Shanghai."

At the fair, nearly 300 exhibitors from 25 provinces, cities and autonomous regions will showcase more than 2,500 types of farm products.

Along with many products from Shanghai, red dates from Kashgar, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, highland barley products from Tibet and yak meat from Qinghai Province will all be exhibited.
