A motorist behind the car which collided with the barrier captured the accident on his dash cam.
Two men have been detained on suspicion of being involved in a high-speed chase on an elevated road in Shanghai, police said on Tuesday.
The incident is said to have taken place on Beidi and Jiamin elevated roads on December 30 last year.
Police launched an investigation after one of the cars had been forced to stop after hitting a barrier when speeding on Beidi Elevated Road. The driver was fined 200 yuan (US$29) with two points deducted from his license.
Subsequently, police found that the man may have been involved in a chase with another car before the accident.
The two could face criminal charges of dangerous driving, police said.
