A support program for minors who have been the victims of crimes has been launched by Jiading District People's Procuratorate and the China Welfare Institute Publishing House.

The program was launched on Monday morning with the unveiling of its service center. Its aim is to provide legal and social aid to young victims suffering serious mental problems, poverty or other forms of insecurity, the procuratorate said.

Also as part of the program, each editor from the publishing house will provide support to one minor. The editors will give books to children and encourage them to participate in reading events as well as calligraphy and painting classes.

Meanwhile, the procuratorate will continue to work with other departments, including police and local women's federations, to form a comprehensive minor support system. It will continue providing legal assistance and psychological counseling, while also working to restrict adult offenders with child-assault records from being employed with young people.

A charity bazaar was held at the unveiling with 15 children and their families selling books, stationery, toys and clothes for money to donate to juvenile victims in criminal cases.

Prosecutors in Jiading also provided materials about minor-related cases for the district women's federation and the publishing house to compile a picture book which explains to young people how to protect themselves from victimizers.
