Visitors to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and the Shanghai Natural History Museum will have their temperatures checked as a response to the outbreak of a new coronavirus-related pneumonia, the two museums said on Thursday.

The museums, which closed from Wednesday to Friday for a major inspection, will reopen on Saturday.

From Saturday, visitors to the museums will have their temperature checked, and those whose body temperature is over 37.5 degrees Celsius will be registered and advised to seek medical treatment.

Also, visitors will be ordered to carry valid identity documents, including ID card, driving license or passport, and wear masks. Visitors who have purchased tickets and wish to change plans can get a refund or reschedule their visits.

During the Spring Festival holiday, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum will receive a maximum of only 8,100 visitors, down 5,400 from ordinary days; and the maximum visitors accepted by Shanghai Natural History Museum will reduce from 5,900 to 3,540.

Winter holiday activities such as education camps will be canceled. Performances and some exhibition areas will also be closed.

Regular disinfection will be carried out, and frontline workers will wear masks.
