All government departments, enterprises, social organizations and owners of public places in Shanghai should screen the temperature of everyone entering the area and ask them to wear masks, according to a notification issued by the leading group office on prevention and control of coronavirus-related pneumonia on Monday.

They should report required information about employees returning to Shanghai from other provinces and take measures on health and epidemic prevention.

According to the notification, local residents should also enhance their awareness on how to protect themselves from infection and avoid going to crowded areas. If they have to, they should wear a mask or take some other measures and avoid close contact with anyone coughing or with a fever.

People who come to Shanghai from Hubei Province on or after January 12 should report to the residential communities, companies or hotels where they are living and keep flight, bus or ship tickets. They should measure their temperatures and fill in a form about their health condition.

They should be staying in quarantine at home or together in designated places for 14 days after their arrival. If they have symptoms such as fever or coughing, they should wear masks and go to hospital.

If there are any questions, people can call the city's health hotline 12320 for counseling.
