All driving tests will be suspended from January 31 due to the coronavirus outbreak, Shanghai traffic police announced on Tuesday.

The tests include those for new drivers, for people with driver's licenses issued overseas and also for motorists who have had full 12 points deducted from their licenses.

Police said those who haven't taken a test after the deduction of 12 points are not allowed to drive.

No tests were scheduled through January 30 for the Chinese New Year holiday.

Police said they will inform the public when the suspension is lifted.
