Expert group gives daily advice on virus

The city government has established a mechanism for daily consultation with experts on coronavirus prevention and control.

A city-level expert group will suggest the direction of epidemic measures and evaluate any possible development to the government, Shanghai Health Commission said.

Vice Mayor Zong Ming took part in a discussion with experts on Wednesday when they said the city government should further enhance collaboration between different departments, improve treatment and control in-hospital infections.

A community-based screening and at-home separation system has been controlling the spread of the virus, the experts said, and patients being gathered at designated hospitals was making full use of their capabilities to ensure effective treatment.

Preventing the infection of medical staff is a current task and the expert group has offered suggestions and guidance on the use of protective outfits and other devices, disinfection and ventilation at fever clinics, and separate wards.
