Punishment warning over disease failures
People who fail to comply with measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus will face punishment, Shanghai police said in a statement on Monday.
Anyone traveling to Shanghai from key epidemic areas or who passed through those areas on their way has to state their health at entrances to the city, as well as those who have had close contact with such people or confirmed or suspected cases. On their arrival in Shanghai, they must stay in isolation for 14 days.
People who fail to register, lie about their travel history or decline to comply with tests or isolation could be held accountable according to public security regulations or the criminal code, police said.
Also, people should report to authorities immediately if they have symptoms such as a fever, fatigue or a cough. Those who fail to report in time or refuse to be tested, isolated or treated and as a result cause the spread of the disease, could be given administrative punishment or criminal punishment for endangering public safety.
Police are also warning against spreading rumors, interfering with the work of doctors, raising prices, producing and selling fake products, selling wild animals and impeding the work of officials.
