11 new cases of coronavirus reported in Shanghai

Shanghai has confirmed another 11 coronavirus cases, including one in serious condition, the Shanghai Health Commission said on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, another four suspected cases were ruled out as of midday Tuesday.

Among the newly diagnosed patients, one is from Hubei Province’s Wuhan City, the heart of the current epidemic, and one is from Hunan Province. Nine are Shanghai residents: those with registered residency and people staying in the city for over six months. Three live in the Pudong New Area, plus one each in Jing’an, Baoshan, Jinshan, Songjiang, Qingpu and Fengxian districts.

Currently, Shanghai has reported a total of 219 cases, with patients aged between 7 months and 88 years old, and ruled out 527 suspected cases.

Among all confirmed infections in Shanghai, 81 involve patients from outside the city, including 58 from Wuhan, 20 are from other cities in Hubei, and one each from Anhui, Heilongjiang and Hunan provinces.

At present, 191 patients are stable, seven are in a serious condition and eight are critical. Twelve patients have been discharged from hospital upon recovery, and there has been one fatality. Another 229 suspected cases are undergoing tests.
