Shanghai reports another 11 coronavirus cases as infections total 254

The city has confirmed another 11 coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 254 , and ruled out 73 suspected cases, the Shanghai Health Commission said on Thursday morning.

Among the newly diagnosed patients, two come from Hubei Province's Wuhan, the center of current epidemic, and nine are Shanghai residents: those with registered residency and people staying in the city for over six months. Three live in Baoshan District, two in Xuhui District, plus one each in the Pudong New Area and Jing'an, Changning and Qingpu districts.

So far Shanghai has reported a total of 254 cases, with patients aged between 7 months and 88 years old, and ruled out 664 suspected cases, the commission said.

Among all confirmed infections in Shanghai, only two patients have had no close contact with people from Hubei. A total of 88 patients are from outside the city -- 62 from Wuhan, 21 from other cities in Hubei, and one each from Anhui, Heilongjiang, Hunan and Shaanxi provinces.

At present, 222 patients are stable, eight are in a serious condition and eight are critical. Fifteen patients have been discharged from hospital upon recovery, and there has been one fatality. Another 169 suspected cases are undergoing tests.

Among people being discharged, seven from Wuhan, one from another city in Hubei, three from Shanghai's Pudong, two in Jing'an, one each from Minhang and Huangpu district, the commission said.
