Shanghai's civil affairs authorities have opened a 24-hour hotline to help children during the coronavirus outbreak.

Anybody who detects a child left home alone or in plight, or whose guardians are confirmed cases or are isolated for medical observation, can call 962200, the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau announced on Saturday.

Neighborhood or village committees will provide emergency help and assistance once a call is received.
