Drones assisting in combating coronavirus
Shanghai police have used drones to keep residents safe during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Police in Huangpu District use drones to patrol popular tourist spots such as the Bund, and police in the Pudong New Area have been using drones to look out for people who are not wearing face masks.
Police in Putuo District have experimented in taking people’s temperature with a drone.
On the morning of February 17, a drone equipped with an infrared sensor hovered at the entrance of the Central Towers, measuring the temperatures of people entering the building.
Back at the command center of Shiquan Police Station, a police officer monitored real-time images from the drone. No one who entered the building that morning was found to have an abnormal temperature.
Police have also used drones to deliver food to people under home quarantine in villages.
On February 18, police in Fengxian District used a large drone to deliver fruit, vegetables, meat, masks, disinfectant and liquid soap to quarantined people in Baisha Village.
