The Chinese Foundation for Military Families and Army Support donates masks and herbal tea to Shanghai United Media Group on Friday.

The Chinese Foundation for Military Families and Army Support expressed its support for journalists by donating 20,000 masks and 20 boxes of herbal tea to Shanghai United Media Group on Friday.

“Media, including Shanghai United Media Group, has played a crucial role in the maintenance of a stable social order during the epidemic,” said Han Hongsheng, director of the foundation’s RT-Hitech Management Committee. “The donation is not big, but it’s our way to express gratefulness to top-tier reporters for their contribution in the fight against the virus.”

Liu Ke, head of Shanghai United Media Group’s trade union, thanked Han and the foundation. She also expressed expectations of a future partnership between the two parties.

“We feel warm and thank the foundation for their care. We also noticed that the foundation has already made donations to medical institutes, including Zhongshan Hospital,” said Liu.

“Apart from media resources, the media group also owns culture industry resources, as well as three foundation platforms. We look forward to more cooperation with the Chinese Foundation for Military Families and Army Support in the future.”

According to Liu, newspapers and new media under Shanghai United Media Group, publisher of Shanghai Daily, produced more than 50,000 coronavirus-related reports in the past month, receiving 3.5 billion views in total.

“The group still has dozens of reporters working at the front line in Wuhan. We will continue to fulfill our responsibility,” said Liu.

The Chinese Foundation for Military Families and Army Support is a public offering fund approved by the State Council. More than 80 percent of its resources are used to serve China’s 57 million retired army members.
