Regional education job fair moves online
An annual education job fair for the Yangtze River Delta region will be held online this year to avoid a mass gathering, authorities announced on Thursday.
“About 850 educational institutions from the region will offer nearly 6,000 vacancies this year, with about 5,000 offered by schools in Shanghai,” said Pan Guojian, vice director of the Shanghai Education Talent Exchange Center, which is organizing the event.
“It’s the first time for us to organize a completely online job fair, and we hope we can bridge job seekers and employers at this special time and attract more outstanding talent to educational instructions,” he said.
Unlike the one-day offline event, the online fair will be launched on March 27 and run through April 27.
Employers will post their vacancies online and job seekers can send their resumes to targeted employers after registering for the fair on a WeChat mini program. Employers can also send out invitations for video interviews to applicants.
Some principals will appear on the platform as live broadcast speakers between April 2 and 3 to introduce their schools and recruitment plans, and to interact with job seekers.
Besides resumes, applicants can also record short videos of 30 seconds to 1 minute to introduce themselves and show their teaching skills in longer videos of 5 to 10 minutes.
Their videos will be reviewed by experienced teachers and those with outstanding performances will be listed in a section called “Today’s Stars.”
