Shanghai appoints deputy Party secretary

Gong Zheng has been appointed as deputy Party secretary of Shanghai and a standing committee member of the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Gong, 60, had worked in customs departments for 26 years and had taken posts up to deputy director of the General Administration of Customs of China. He had also been deputy governor of Zhejiang Province and governor of Shandong Province before being appointed to Shanghai.
