The Hongqiao International Airport will suspend all international flights, as well as flights to and from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, from Wednesday to prevent coronavirus transmission from imported cases, authorities declared at a press conference on Tuesday.

Instead, these flights will be transferred to the Pudong International Airport, said Yin Xin, director of the news release department of the Shanghai Information Office, citing the city's coronavirus prevention and control authorities.

The Hongqiao airport will still remain available for such flights should they require emergency landing, or if the Pudong airport is unavailable, Yin added.
