Shanghai Citizens Art Festival to be held online
The Shanghai Citizens Art Festival will launch online for the first time on Saturday, a day also designated as Culture Service Day this year.
The 2020 Shanghai Citizens Art Festival will raise its curtain with an array of cultural and art events live-streamed on Culture Shanghai Cloud amid the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak.
From 10am to 10pm, the festival will offer a wide range of online activities for people of different ages and varied interests. Culture Shanghai Cloud will feature eight channels, including those dedicated to stage performances, local highlights and art education.
Viewers can enjoy performances ranging from ballet and music to acrobatics, puppetry and children’s plays on the platform's theater channel. Many well-known artists and scholars will give public online talks in a virtual lecture hall.
On the art education channel, around 500 free lessons will be available. Meanwhile, a channel dedicated to the Yangtze River Delta region will showcase the area's local traditions and culture, as well as several original works themed on fighting the epidemic.
A series of competitions covering traditional Chinese opera, original design, health knowledge and innovation in public space will also be launched on Saturday.
The annual cultural gala, established in 2013, has become a public platform for diverse cultural events.
