Shanghai's market watchdog issued the city's first high temperature sterilized milk manufacturing license on Monday.

Shanghai Yong'an Dairy Product Co Ltd and Shanghai No. 4 Dairy Product Co Ltd, both affiliated to Shanghai Bright Dairy, wanted to produce this new category of product but found that it had not been listed in China's food production permission catalogue, the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation said.

The administration applied to the State Administration for Market Regulation, which then included the milk on a new catalogue released earlier this month.

The Shanghai administration then worked with market regulators in Fengxian District, where the two companies are located, to complete all necessary procedures in five working days.

The two companies have a daily capacity of 50 tons high temperature sterilized milk, according to the administration.
