Work resumed on the “Five Corridors and One Area” project in Jiading on March 15.

Workers are flattening slopes and digging holes to plant trees at the 10th parcel of the Wusong River Corridor which is part of the project involving an ecological corridor and other key industrial projects.

The 10th parcel covers 170 mu (11.3 hectares) and will feature a variety of large and medium-sized trees such as camphor, hackberry and Chinese tallow.

Due to transport delays caused by the coronavirus outbreak, some seedlings hadn’t been delivered. But it is estimated they will be all planted before the end of April.

“Our aim is to fulfill the project before the end of May, catching up with the work left before,” said Huang Rongfang, vice president of the Jiading Chengfa construction management center.

Work also resumed at the construction site of Jia He Xin Yuan, the first batch of rent-only housing in the city on March 13.

There are 70 workers on the site at the junction of Shuangding and Yungu roads. The site has a series of measures designed to prevent the coronavirus spreading, including disinfecting public areas and taking temperatures twice a day.

Jia He Xin Yuan, which will have six high-rise buildings, is due to be completed in August. The coronavirus slowed progress but more workers have been hired to get the job done on time.

“We will do our best to complete the work on time with high quality on the basis of workers’ health,” said Ling Bingchuan, vice chief of Jiading New City Company’s construction department.

Construction of Go-tion High-Tech Global Base has also resumed. It has a closed management system and deliveries are unloaded outside the construction site.

The base was expected to be completed in October, but the coronavirus disrupted plans.

“So far, the first batch of 65 workers has already worked on the site, while other workers are on the way back to the city,” said Yang Ke, the project manager.

Considering the transport issues of some workers who live in rural areas, three shuttle buses were sent to provinces including Anhui to take them back to the city.

The fuel batteries project of SHPT, construction of a hydrogen energy harbor base in Jiading, was launched on March16.

Covering an area of 42,300 square meters in Jiading Hydrogen Park in Anting Town, the project is costing 500 million yuan (US$70 million).

The first phase plans to go into operation next August. Until then, the base can produce 12,000 fuel cell stacks and systems. The production capacity is expected to reach 12 hundred million yuan by 2024.
