7 new imported cases reported in Shanghai

The total number of imported novel coronavirus patients has amounted to 177, with 14 having been discharged from hospital upon recovery. There's one new local death on Tuesday.

Seven new imported cases were reported in the city as of midnight Tuesday, which has brought the figure of imported novel coronavirus patients to 177, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Wednesday. Another 20 imported suspected cases are undergoing check.

Three imported cases, from Spain, Iran and the US respectively, were discharged upon recovery on Tuesday.

Among the newly diagnosed cases, one is a Chinese student, who studied in the UK. The person left the UK on March 27, arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The second is a Chinese traveling in Thailand, who left there on March 28, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The third is an American traveling in Indonesia, who left there on March 23, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day via Taiwan and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The fourth is a Chinese taking a business trip in Spain, who left there on March 27, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day via Russia and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The fifth case is a French, who left France on March 20, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The sixth is a French, who left France on March 18, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

The seventh is a Chinese, who left the UK on March 28, arrived at the Pudong airport the next day and was put under quarantine upon arrival.

All the seven patients have been transferred to the designated hospital and their 48 close contacts on the planes have been tracked and put under quarantine and observation.

There was one new local death reported on Tuesday. A 63-year-old woman, whose condition became worse after being hospitalized and treated with CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) and ECMO (extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation), was declared death.

Among the 177 imported cases, 14 have been discharged upon recovery and 163 are hospitalized, including two in serious condition and one critical.

Among the 339 local cases, 327 have been discharged upon recovery, and six are hospitalized, including five in critical condition. There are so far six local fatalities.

There were no new local cases or suspected cases, the health commission said.
