The Shanghai Metro will stop for three minutes from 10am on Saturday to mourn COVID-19 victims, the company said on Friday.

The State Council has called for three minutes of silence nationwide, while air raid sirens will wail and vehicles, trains and ships sound their horns.

At 10am, all Metro trains will be stationary and sound their horns, apart from trains on the Pujiang Line which have no horns. All Metro staff will stand in mourning, and passengers will be advised to do the same.

After the three minutes, the trains will move on and the whole Metro system will gradually return to normal, the company said.
