No new imported infections in Shanghai as 80 suspected cases on one flight undergoing check

No new imported cases of novel coronavirus were reported in the city on Friday, while 80 suspected cases from one flight are undergoing test, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Saturday morning.

The 80 suspected cases on the same flight from Russia arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Friday. They were sent to hospitals for medical observation upon arrival for showing symptoms. 

The other passengers on the flight have been put under quarantine, the commission said.

Meanwhile, 13 imported cases — two from France, two from Spain, two from the UK, one from Netherlands, one from Sweden, one from Thailand, one from Switzerland, one from United Arab Emirates, one from Indonesia and one from the US — were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Friday.

So far, of all the 216 imported cases, 107 have been discharged upon recovery and 109 are hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another 81 suspected imported cases, including the 80 cases from the flight, are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Friday.

Among the 339 local cases, 328 have been discharged upon recovery and four are hospitalized, two are seriously sick and two in critical condition. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
