Three new imported novel coronavirus cases including two Chinese passengers on the same flight from Russia were reported on Sunday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Monday morning.

So far, 71 people on that flight arriving in Shanghai on April 10 have been confirmed infection.

The other patient is a Chinese having business trip in Japan and arriving at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on April 17, the commission said.

All the newly diagnosed patients have been sent to designated hospital for treatment, and their 123 close contacts on the airplanes have been put under quarantine and observation.

Meanwhile, five imported cases, two from the UK, one from the US, one from Thailand and one from Italy, were released upon recovery on Sunday.

So far, of all the 299 imported cases, 190 have been discharged upon recovery and 109 are hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another 19 imported suspected cases were undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Sunday.

Of the 339 local cases, 331 have been discharged upon recovery and one being hospitalized is in serious condition. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
