Free surgery for a local hero after Wuhan
A nurse back in Shanghai after service on the coronavirus front line in Wuhan received free surgery for myopia at Shanghai Ai'er Eye Hospital on Monday.
Zhang Junjie had planned to have the operation earlier this year but had to postpone when he traveled to Wuhan on Chinese New Year's Eve.
He spent 67 days working at Jinyintan Hospital, a designated hospital for coronavirus patients in the Hubei Province capital.
He returned to Shanghai early this month and went to Ai'er for the operation.
"After learning that Zhang had served in Wuhan, we decided to offer free surgery to show our respect to medics fighting in the battle against coronavirus," said surgeon Cai Jinfeng, president of the hospital.
