2 new imported cases reported in Shanghai

Two more imported case of novel coronavirus were reported in the city on Monday, while 13 imported cases — 11 from Russia and two from the UK — were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

The new patients, both Chinese studying in the UK, arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on April 25 and started to develop symptoms during quarantine.

The newly diagnosed cases have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment and 74 close contacts on the same flight have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 305 imported cases, 250 have been discharged upon recovery and 55 are still hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Another four imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted cases or suspected cases were reported on Monday.

Of all the 339 local cases, 331 have been discharged upon recovery and one being hospitalized is in serious condition. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation right now, the health commission said.
