Separate dining and the use of spare chopsticks and spoons are encouraged by Jiading government amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

“We will put the serving chopsticks and spoons on the table, and waiters will remind the customers of using them during the meal. We can also provide each dish with chopsticks and spoons if needed,” said local restaurateur Zhang.

Zhang said most customers understood and accepted the use of serving tableware to effectively prevent the spread of germs and viruses.

On March 12, market supervision and management department in Jiangqiao Town issued a notice on using serving chopsticks and spoons after the restaurant resumed operation.

It requires restaurants to provide training to employees.

The officials also said that promoting serving chopsticks will continue to be included in their daily inspection and supervision work.

At the same time, the department plans to work with Wanda shopping center, Jiangqiao Ancient Street and other commercial areas to promote the use of serving chopsticks and spoons and set a standard for catering services.
