Eyes on the goal as work starts to resume
Almost all enterprises in Jiading have resumed production as the novel coronavirus outbreak has abated in the country.
Many of them managed the resumption thanks to the local government which is sparing no effort to ensure the economy goes back on the track and development goal set for the year achieved.
The catering service sector in the district, for example, has enjoyed more than 200 million yuan (US$28.36 million) of tax cuts since January.
Shanghai Yingda Aircondition Enterprise Co Ltd which supplied pipes and valves for Leishenshan Hospital, the second emergency hospital in Wuhan for COVID-19 patients, received a low-interest bank loan of 15 million yuan owing to the help by officials with Jiading Industrial Zone, where the company was based.
Many other companies are taking the advantage of the critical time to sharpen their edges.
Startup Shanghai NewSky Bio-tech Co Ltd, another company in Jiading Industrial Zone, mastered the core technology in biological diagnosis but could not produce finished products due to the lack of a production line.
The company has now acquired the production qualification for a key component for novel coronavirus test kits.
It is speeding up building its own factories and production lines. “We are aiming at the higher-end of the market,” NewSky Bio-tech General Manager Song Jun revealed.
The new factory of Shanghai Step Electric Co is also stepping up the introduction of manufacturing and testing systems for robots, key components and motion control systems.
The factory has an annual capacity of producing 10,000 robots a year and has 3,500 robot flexible workstations.
Meanwhile, satellites made by a Jiading company again reached outer space on March 24. Their onboard data transmission and broadcast distribution subsystems were developed by Space OK Aerospace Science and Technology Co in Nanxiang Town.
