IKEA China has announced a recall of its Müsli mixed fruit dry cereal due to excessive mold content.

The recall started on May 8 and will last for a month.

A full refund at any IKEA store is promised for customers who bought the cereal after March 2019, according to a statement on IKEA China's website.

The recall followed an inspection last month by the Shenzhen market watchdog in Guangdong Province, which found that the mold content of the product exceeded the limit set by Chinese safety standards.

The importer Finetrading recalls IKEA Müsli muesli with dried berries due to traces of mold exceeding legal requirements, the statement says.

There have been no reports of customers experiencing negative health effects after consuming the Müsli, it added.

As a precautionary measure IKEA has immediately stopped sales of the Müsli in all IKEA stores in the country and has started an ongoing investigation, according to the statement.
