Shanghai's nurses celebrating with drinks

Companies donate gifts and drinks to express their support and gratitude for the work of the city's nurses on International Nurses Day, many of who served in Wuhan.

Sodexo and Heytea sent gifts, drinks to nurses in the city on Tuesday to express their gratitude on International Nurses Day.

Nearly 5,000 nurses from eight hospitals received gifts and drinks and 69 nurses who had gone to help in Wuhan, the former epicenter of the novel coronavirus pandemic, received gift cards.

Officials from Heytea said the company had donated 1 million yuan (US$141,044) to the Chinese Red Cross Society and sent over 50,000 drinks to medics and social workers in 29 cities since January to offer their support and respect.

Sodexo staff have been sending dish and food to medics working in the front line of coronavirus in Wuhan since the outbreak took place. Staff took great risk in delivering food to medics to ensure that doctors and nurses can have hot and delicious food.
