Shanghai Library will be allowing readers from Wednesday after they make appointments online, the library announced on Monday.

Visits can be booked via the library's WeChat account or by calling 021-64455555.

The library, which already allows books to be borrowed and returned, has strict epidemic prevention measures in please so it can further open its areas for people who want to read books in the library.

The number of daily visitors will be controlled and those without an appointment or who have symptoms such as a fever, coughing or shortness of breath will be prevented from entering.

Before entry, each reader should show their appointment details as well as their green QR health code.
