The city’s annual lavender festival kicked off in Shanghai Lavender Park on Tuesday.

The park, located in the Shanghai International Resort, features a purple flower sea of lavender covering over 150,000 square meters. Roses are also in full bloom.

For the first time, the park is opening a camping site and allows visitors to put up tents on the grass.

During the two-month festival, the park will hold a variety of activities on its 20,000-square-meter lawn, such as a South France-themed week and a traditional Han clothing-themed week.

Due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the park requires advanced registration for visitors, and the number of daily visitors is limited to 12,000, less than 30 percent of its maximum capacity. Also, visitors are required to present valid ID cards and health QR codes for entry.

Tickets are now available on the park’s official WeChat account and online ticketing platforms such as Damai and Maoyan.
