Over 300 parks across Shanghai will extend their opening hours from Wednesday, giving residents the chance to take evening strolls, the city's greenery authorities announced.

The Jing'an, Daning and Zhabei parks in Jing'an District will prolong their opening hours to 10pm. The Huaihai, Fuxing and Jiuzi parks in Huangpu District; Dong'an and Caoxi parks in Xuhui District; Tianshan and Hami parks in Changning District; and Luxun and Heping parks in Hongkou District will extend opening time to 9pm.

Measures including visitor controls and temperature checks remain in effect at city parks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau said.

Some parks will impose reservations for different visiting times and park operators are ordered to keep the number of visitors at indoor areas below 30 percent of maximum capacity, the bureau said.

All outdoor movie screenings at city parks, a summertime tradition in Shanghai, will not be held this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, the bureau said.
