Local hospital opens after-school myopia clinic
For the benefit and convenience of local students, Shanghai Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital has announced the launch of a special myopia clinic between 3:30pm and 6pm from Monday to Friday.
Students can visit the clinic after school, said the hospital during Children’s Day on Monday and ahead of National Eye Care Day on Saturday.
During a trial last week, the clinic welcomed nearly 300 students within five days, receiving good response from students and parents.
The clinic is located at the hospital’s Fenyang branch in Xuhui District. Reservation is required through the hospital’s public WeChat account and other medical service platforms. Each patient and their accompanying guardian are required to wear masks, have their temperature taken, show their health code and conduct real-name registration.
About 56.6 percent of local minors suffer from myopia, 3 percentage points higher than the national level, and the incidence is rising by 1 to 2 percentage points annually.
