Foundation donates books to children in poor regions
A local charity foundation established under the call of leading medical experts has teamed up with several companies and organizations in Shanghai to launch a library program for schools in poor regions of central and western China.
The first library has been set up in Shiqu County, Sichuan Province, said Shanghai Shangshan Charity Foundation, during the Children’s Day on Monday.
The school that benefited in Shiqu County has some 200 students between 7 and 12 years old. The foundation sponsored building the library, donating books and organizing online and offline reading activities for the students.
The first batch of 1,000 books have been donated to the library and more books, art and cultural courses and activities will be offered in the future, the foundation said.
