Doctors remove tumor from the brain of a 7-year-old

After a boy started to suffer vomiting, nausea and difficulty walking straight in early February, doctors in Shanghai found a 7-centimeter tumor.

Local doctors have announced the successful removal of a tumor from the brain of a 7-year-old boy.

The boy, a Jiangsu Province native, started to suffer vomiting, nausea and difficulty walking straight in early February. The family took him to Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Doctors found a tumor with a diameter of 7 centimeters, which resulted in brain pressure and a compressed brainstem. The boy faced a risk of sudden cardiac arrest and lose of heart beat.

A surgery was conducted to remove the entire tumor without damaging brain tissues. The boy was released 10 days after surgery and a recent check found he was recovering very well, the hospital said on Friday.
