Extra train services added for Dragon Boat Festival

Nearly one million train trips are expected via stations in Shanghai during the upcoming holiday. To meet demand, more services have been scheduled to regional destinations.

An extra 27 trains will be put into service at railway stations in Shanghai for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the China Railway Shanghai Group said on Tuesday.

As many as 925,000 train trips are expected to be made via Shanghai between June 24 and 27, authorities predict. Most rail passengers will be making short-distance tours and visiting family in the Yangtze River Delta region, the group said.

The travel peak is expected on June 25, the day of the festival.

The extra train services will be from Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station to Nanjing, Hefei, Xuzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo, according to the group.

The holiday will run from June 25 to 27.

Passengers are required to wear face masks and have their temperatures checked.
