1 new COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

There was one new imported novel coronavirus case reported in the city on Thursday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

The newly diagnosed patient, a Chinese working in Ethiopia, arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on June 30.

The patient has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 53 close contacts on the same plane have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 372 imported cases, 344 have been discharged from hospital upon recovery and 28 are still hospitalized.

One imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No locally transmitted coronavirus cases were reported on Wednesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 334 have been discharged upon recovery and one is hospitalized for treatment. There have been seven local fatalities.

No local suspected case is undergoing check.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation, the health commission said.
