2 coronavirus cases reported in Shanghai

Two new imported novel coronavirus cases were reported in the city on Monday, while four imported patients including three from Pakistan and one from India were discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

The newly diagnosed patients are both Chinese, one studying in the UK and the other studying in the US.

The patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while all the 108 close contacts on the same plane have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 376 imported cases, 351 have been discharged upon recovery and 25 are still hospitalized.

Two imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Monday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 334 have been discharged upon recovery and one is hospitalized for treatment. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
