Over 320,000 products recalled in first half
More than 320,000 defective products, involving 19 separate cases, were recalled in the city during the first half of this year, Shanghai's market watchdog said on Monday.
The 325,375 recalled items covered seven product categories — namely children's clothing, children's products, electronics and appliances, protective items, food, transportation and furniture — the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation announced.
Five separate recall incidents involved children's clothing, and another five covered electronics and appliances, making these the top categories for recalls, the administration said.
Five of the recall cases were initiated voluntarily by companies, while the remainder involved market watchdogs intervention, it said.
