Officials from three departments sign an agreement on dealing with tourism complaints..

To help people solve tourism complaints more efficiently, an agreement was signed by the city’s tourism quality watchdog, the Changning District court and the consumer council during a conference on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, supervision and management are the duties of the city’s tourism quality watchdog; Changning’s consumer council is in charge of settling disputes and sorting out the data of dispute processing; and Changning’s court should provide professional guidance on dispute mediation, Zhu Yihong, head of the tourism quality watchdog, said.

Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the tourism industry is stagnating and the number of disputes had increased 10-fold year on year since February, Jin Lei, deputy director of the city’s culture and tourism administration, said.

From January 24 to Tuesday, there had been 29,700 disputes related to tourism in the city with 28,900 resolved.

To deal with all disputes better and quicker, the three departments will now cooperate. Apart from complex disputes related to organizations from different districts, Changning can solve their disputes instead of the city’s tourism quality watchdog, Jin said.

The cooperation is based on a one-stop platform for tourism disputes released in January last year. Up to now, 16 tourism departments and 24 tourism companies are connected with the platform to help with complaints from the public, Jin said.

He added that 10,481 disputes had been received on the platforms with 96.2 percent of them resolved.
