1 new COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

One new imported coronavirus case was reported in Shanghai on Thursday, while one imported patient from Russia was discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

The new case is a Chinese working in Zambia. The person was put into quarantine upon arrival at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on July 21 and started to develop symptoms during the process.

The patient has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while all the 58 close contacts on the plane have been put under quarantine and observation at designated place.

So far, of all the 397 imported cases, 377 have been discharged upon recovery and 20 are still hospitalized.

Two imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Thursday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
