1 new COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

One new imported coronavirus case was reported in Shanghai on Tuesday, while an imported patient from the US was discharged from hospital upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Wednesday morning.

The new case is a Chinese working in Singapore. The person was put into quarantine upon arrival at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on July 25 and started to develop symptoms during the process.

The new patient has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while all the 21 close contacts on the plane have been put under quarantine and observation at designated place.

So far, of all the 402 imported cases, 384 have been discharged upon recovery and 18 are still hospitalized.

No imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Tuesday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
