Songjiang puts on a show to attract tourists
Tasty delicacies, lucky draws, magic shows and intangible cultural heritage displays are on offer at an event hosted by Songjiang’s cultural and tourism authorities to promote what’s best about the district.
Free admission to tourist attractions including Shanghai Happy Valley, Playa Maya Water Park, Smurfs Park, Yuehu Sculpture Park, Zuibaichi Park and Fangta Park were being distributed to visitors to the Xuhui ASE Mall on Friday taking part in games and lucky draws.
The event is also being held on Saturday.
Visitors can taste sweet Cangqiao pears and Sheshan peaches, specialty fruits of Songjiang, and experience how to make Yexie cake, a Shanghai intangible cultural heritage that dates back to 1573.
The district’s cultural heritage, including bamboo-weaving, paper cuts, clay modelling, sugar blowing and silk screen printing are being demonstrated.
The Sheshan summer carnival, the Shanghai Happy Valley electronic music festival, Playa Maya Water Park electronic music party, summer camps, golf tournaments, peach-picking, magic night tours at Chenshan Botanical Garden, a lotus festival at Xinbang Town, crayfish banquets and various exhibitions are just some of the summer attractions in the district, officials said.
Tourism discounts are on offer, and souvenirs are also available.
