Trains running on certain routes in the Yangtze River Delta region will suspend operations temporarily due to Typhoon Hagupit, China Railway Shanghai Group announced on Monday.

Trains running between Taizhou and Cangnan on the Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, and between Lishui and the Wenzhou South on the Jinhua-Wenzhou Railway, will suspend operations from 2pm on Monday to 8am on Tuesday to ensure safety, according to the group.

A full refund will be offered to those who have purchased tickets, the group said.

Rail authorities will follow the development of the typhoon closely and adjust the schedule of rail trains, it said.

Typhoon Hagupit, the fourth typhoon of the year which formed in the East China Sea on Saturday, will bring gales and showers to Shanghai on Monday.

It was upgraded to a severe tropical storm on Monday morning and is forecast to land in coastal areas of Wenling and Cangnan in Zhejiang Province on Monday night, according to the Central Meteorological Observatory.
