A dubbing and recitation contest to review Red classics and promote Red Culture — the cultural heritage passed down through China’s revolutionary era and its modern construction led by the Communist Party — was held at the Xintiandi Party-Masses Service Center in Huangpu District recently.

The contest, initiated in early June by its co-organizers including Huaihai Road M. Community Party Working Committee, Xintiandi City Complex United Party Committee and Runyi non-profit organization, had received more than 40 recordings during the preliminary round. Fierce competition left nine of them to break into the finals.

The contest is part of the second Red Culture Festival held by the Huaihai Road M. Community to mark the 99th anniversary since the founding of the Communist Party in China in 1921. And the theme of this year’s festival, “Red Huaihai, in the prime of its youth,” focuses on introducing the area’s landmarks and roads including shikumen (stone-gate buildings) architectures, Xintiandi City Complex, Xingye Road and Fuxing Road, and pointing out their interconnections with the inheritance of Red Culture.

In the dubbing session performers from Black Card (Shanghai) Invest, Gaolaojiu (Shanghai) Catering Co, Jinjiang Shipping, Infinitus Tower and the Huaihai Road M. Community Health-care Service Center staged excellent dubbing performances as they played their roles in deep emotions.

Reciters from SOHO, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Luwan Branch, China Construction Bank Shanghai Branch and NewLan Science and Technology Development Co expressed their deep attachment toward the mother country in measured tones in the recitation session.

“The contest is to promote the Red culture in our community. It is also an opportunity for Party members to interact with and influence the masses. Moreover, it is our gift for the Party’s 99th anniversary,” said a young probationary Party member after the contest.
