Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng had a video meeting yesterday with David W. MacLennan, chairman and chief executive officer of Cargill, an American privately held global food corporation.

Gong introduced the city’s fight against COVID-19 epidemic and efforts made to build a first-class business environment and deepen the opening-up and reforms. He warmly welcomed Cargill’s participation in the third China International Import Expo to be held in November.

MacLennan said that Shanghai has made great achievements in epidemic control and social development. Cargill has participated in the CIIE twice and the group has upgraded its China headquarters into the Asia-Pacific Regional Headquarters.

According to MacLennan, the company will expand investment in the Chinese market, having established its China headquarters in Shanghai in 1996.
