2 new imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

Two new imported coronavirus cases were reported in Shanghai on Friday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Saturday morning.

The first case is a Chinese studying in the United States who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 3.

The other patient is a Chinese working in the United Arab Emirates who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 6. 

They have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while all the 103 close contacts on the planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 424 imported cases, 394 have been discharged upon recovery and 30 are still hospitalized.

Six imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Friday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
